Ceramic Metal Halide Bulbs
About Ceramic Metal Halide Bulbs
Ceramic metal halide (CMH) bulbs are a high-intensity discharge (HID) lamp similar to traditional metal halide (MH) bulbs, with the main difference being that the arc tube inside the bulb is made of ceramic instead of the quartz found in MH bulbs. An arc tube is the ignition source found at the center of all HID lamps, which uses electrical current to heat up and vaporize the gasses and metals inside the bulb, creating light. CMH bulbs use ceramic due to its ability to withstand higher temperatures in comparison to quartz arc tubes. The higher temperatures allows for better efficiency, less maintenance, and a broader spectrum of light. The spectrum of light given off by CMH bulbs is the most similar to sunlight, making them ideal for grow lamps as well as indoor commercial lighting. CMH bulbs have a higher color rendering index (CRI) allowing for a healthy spectrum of light for plants as well as a pleasant working environment. Our catalog of CMH bulbs includes a range of wattages from the smallest 20 Watt bulb to the largest 150 Watt bulb. We also carry a wide variety of the most well-known and trusted brands, such as GE, Philips, and Sylvania.
